Application of Caustic soda in carpet cleaners
Most people are familiar with the benefits of using caustic soda directly. Caustic soda, also known as sodium hydroxide or lye, is an important and widely used chemical substance that is used in the production of many products, especially detergents and bleaching agents. This has led some businesses, such as carpet cleaners, to use caustic soda directly in their profession instead of using expensive detergents available in the market. Caustic soda is used as a cleaning agent instead of soap or dye fixative. The process of dyeing is a common practice in carpet cleaning and requires chemical substances and proper experience. In the following, we will explain the process of dyeing carpets using caustic soda and chemical substances.
In carpet cleaning, some carpets, especially those made of wool or silk, may lose their color due to washing or dye bleeding. This can result in color mixing on the carpet and customer dissatisfaction. To remove these spread colors, experienced individuals usually use a chemical substance called sodium hydrosulfite, which is an effective reducing agent. The method involves dissolving a small amount of this substance in a small container containing buttermilk and warm sweet water and patiently removing the spread colors with care.
Using sodium hydrosulfite has its challenges; for example, if the amount used is excessive or if the person using it lacks sufficient skill, it may remove the base color from other areas of the carpet as well. The appropriate concentration for dissolving sodium hydrosulfite in water is about 5 to 8 percent, and it takes approximately ten minutes to an hour for it to dissolve completely.
