What is formalin or formaldehyde?

– Step 1: Methanol is converted into formaldehyde by reacting it with oxygen in the presence of a catalyst like copper oxide (CuO).
– Step 2: The produced formaldehyde from the previous step is placed in high temperature and pressure conditions near water vapor. This process known as hydration converts formaldehyde into formalin.
